Healthy Turkey Meatball Subs

So...... I am not the perfect cook. But it is one of my favorite hobbies. I enjoy trying new recipes and come up with healthy recipes that will benefit my health. I have been craving meatball subs for the longest. I have been thinking of eating one on my cheat day. But I just think of all the calorie it has and i say how can i eat something high in calories after eating clean.

I decided to come up with a recipe. Instead of buying one in the city that has over 800 calories. The sub i made including bread and cheese only contains 252 calories. This sub is great for lunch or dinner. I bought all the products at Trader Joe's. But if you don't have a Joe's near you a regular supermarket will do it.  Plus it is super cheesy and i could eat all of it. Literally !

It Looks so yummy !

The bread is just perfect. Crunchy and not soggy that's the consistency you want.

Couldn't resist had to take a bite while photographing the sub.

Recipe
16 oz or 1 pound of lean turkey ground meat
1 egg
3 tbs of whole wheat breadcrumbs
1/2 tbsp Onion Powder
1/4 tbsp salt
1/4 tbsp black pepper
1 to 2 tbs Italian seasoning
1 cup of traditional sauce (I used PREGO light smart)
1/4 cup of water

Mix together all of the ingredients except for sauce. The recipe makes 18 meatballs = 106 calories per 2 serving I only used 2  my bread would not hold anymore.

On a non stick skillet add 1 tbs of Olive oil

On medium heat add the meatballs until they brown on each side which is about 3 minutes per side. when the are nicely brown. Add the Tomato sauce and water. Cover the pan with lid and let it simmer for 30 minutes. For more flavor add another tbs of Italian seasoning.  After 30 minutes the sauce should have a thick consistency and the meatballs should be fully cooked.

Take a Whole Wheat  or whole grain Hot dog bun or which ever is best for you. I had whole wheat at the moment. Add two meatballs and a bit of sauce now take 1/4 of the low fat shredded mozzarella cheese and add it on the top. place it on the broiler for 1 minute. And TA-DA their you have a yummy and healthy meatball sub. Who said eating healthy food was not yummy?

I invite you to try this recipe and let me know what you think of it. As I said before i am not an expert just a gal that has decided to have a clean eating lifestyle.

Enjoy !

Navy Blue Skirt Outfit

Untitled #546

I don't know if i have told you that my favorite colors are pink, navy blue and grey.  I am obsessed with these colors and I think they make a great combination. Plus I believe that blue is an universal color. While roaming around J Crew I found cute pieces and a pair of pumps that would be great for the spring or even now in the winter.

I just had to do an inspiration outfit. I love the skirt is so lady like and with the sweatshirt and pink necklace it will make the skirt a bold statement and it give it a touch of fun. I added a messenger bag which can also be use as handheld. I wanted to concentrate on the the shoes and outfit, because those are the key pieces.

On the makeup i went subtle rosy lips and cheeks with nude nails. very classy and lady like as i said before. This outfit is great for work, dinner, and even church. I love skirts i usually don't wear them that much in the winter but when summer and spring comes around i tend to use skirts a couple times a week. I think this would be great with or without tights.

So what you think about it will you wear this outfit? Leave a comment on the bottom.

Happy Presidents Day !

DIY Face and Hair Mask

Hello Ladies ! I hope everyone enjoyed their Valentine's day weather it was staying at home and watching the new season of House of Cards on Netflix or going out with your love one's like i did. I went out with my best friend. We went to the movies and had the best cheat meal of the week. Burger, fries and a Haagen Dazs Dazzler.

This Saturday i decided to stay home and pamper myself. I do my weekly face and hair mask. I wanted to share with you this recipe that has been in my family for years and that all the girls in my family apply it. My mom passed it down on me and her mom passed it down to her and her sisters. It is very easy and it has plenty of nutrients. It's the Honey and Coconut oil mask. Yep only two products, it's that easy.

This is all you need. A bowl, a Tablespoon measure, organic coconut oil and Pure Honey. 100% natural.
